Has become my everyday briefcase

I bought the Ashford because I wanted something more traditional than a laptop backpack but still practical enough for daily commuting. I've now used it for well over a year and it has been excellent. My 15-inch laptop fits comfortably, documents stay organized and there's enough remaining space for the things I normally carry. The leather has softened and developed lighter and darker areas from use, which has made the bag look considerably better than when it was brand new.

Shoulder pad makes a difference

I use the shoulder strap during my commute and the wider padded section sits comfortably even when I've packed the bag fairly full.

A little stiff initially

The leather and overall structure were firmer than I expected during the first couple of weeks. It gradually became easier to handle with regular use. Eight months later it still holds its shape but feels much more broken in.

Professional but not too formal

This works particularly well for my office because we're somewhere between business and business casual most days. It looks appropriate with a jacket but doesn't feel out of place with chinos and a shirt either. The twin-strap front gives it some character without making the design overly complicated.

I regularly carry paperwork alongside my laptop and like that the interior keeps everything from getting crumpled together.

Almost two years of commuting

I've used this briefcase several days a week for almost two years. It has been on trains, flights, in the back of taxis and under my desk more times than I could count. There are plenty of small marks on the leather now and the areas around the handles have darkened from use, but that's exactly how I hoped it would age. Structurally the bag has held up extremely well. The handles remain secure, the shoulder strap hardware feels solid and the main zipper still runs smoothly.

My 15-inch work laptop fits without needing to force it in. There's still enough room for my notebook and daily essentials.

Easy to switch how I carry it

I normally use the handles going into meetings and the shoulder strap when walking to the station. Having both options makes the bag much more practical than I expected.

Not a lightweight bag

Full leather and metal hardware mean there's some weight to it before you put anything inside. Coming from a nylon laptop bag I noticed that immediately. The shoulder strap helps considerably, and for me the sturdier feel is worth the extra weight.

Perfect for client meetings

I used to bring a backpack to most meetings because it was convenient, but I wanted something that looked a little more polished when meeting clients. The Ashford has been a good upgrade. It has enough room for my laptop and documents without looking oversized, and I like being able to remove the shoulder strap once I arrive. After more than a year, the leather has developed a really attractive worn-in appearance.

The patina is getting better every month

The leather was fairly even in color when I first received the bag. After more than a year and a half of regular use, it has developed much more variation. The corners have lightened slightly, the handles are darker and there are small scratches across the front that blend naturally into the finish. I haven't tried to keep it pristine because that would defeat the point for me. The construction remains solid and the bag still holds its structured shape.

Good proportions

The 40 cm width gives my laptop enough room while the 10 cm depth keeps the bag from looking too bulky.

A much better work setup

My previous briefcase was basically one large compartment, so cables, pens and documents were always mixed together. The Ashford's interior organization is much more useful. I can keep the laptop and paperwork arranged properly while still having space for the smaller things I need during the day. It's a simple improvement but one I appreciate every morning.

More structured than soft

If you're looking for a floppy leather messenger bag, this probably isn't it. The body holds its shape quite firmly. That took me a little while to get used to, but I now appreciate how neat it stays when I set it down.

Comfortable shoulder carry

The strap adjusts easily and the padded section helps distribute the weight. I use it for a twenty-minute walk most mornings.

Still my favorite work bag

I've owned the Ashford for about two years and it has replaced every other briefcase I used to rotate between. The capacity is enough for my 15-inch laptop, paperwork and the essentials I need during a normal office day, but the bag never feels unnecessarily large. The leather now has plenty of character from commuting and travel. Despite being used heavily, the handles, strap attachments, zipper and stitching have all remained dependable.

Works well for business travel

I've taken this on several work trips and it works nicely alongside a small suitcase. My laptop, travel documents and chargers stay in the briefcase where they're easy to reach. Once I arrive, I can take it directly into a meeting without switching bags. The shoulder strap is particularly useful in airports when I need both hands free.

I can fit everything I genuinely need for work, but the bag isn't so large that I end up filling it with unnecessary stuff.

Built for actual everyday use

Some leather bags look great but feel like they need to be treated carefully. I haven't found that with this one. Mine gets put on train floors, under desks and into overhead compartments. There are scratches and marks now, but they suit the full-grain leather rather than making the briefcase look damaged. After eighteen months of that treatment, nothing important has loosened or failed.

Best when you don't overpack

There's a good amount of room, but I think the briefcase looks and carries better when it isn't stuffed to the limit. Laptop, notebook, documents and a few accessories are the sweet spot for me.

My laptop finally has a proper work bag

I carried my 15-inch laptop in a backpack for years and finally decided I wanted something more appropriate for the kind of meetings I'm attending now. This has been a great change. The laptop fits comfortably, the structured body protects documents and the shoulder strap means I haven't sacrificed too much convenience. The leather has also aged beautifully over the last sixteen months.

The older it gets, the better it looks

Mine is approaching two years old now and has developed a much richer appearance than it had originally. The front flap has lighter areas where it bends, the handles have darkened and small scratches have blended into the natural grain. I condition it occasionally but otherwise just use it normally. The bag still stands upright, the zipper works properly and all of the hardware feels secure. This is exactly how I hoped a full-grain leather briefcase would age.

Great balance

Traditional leather briefcase appearance with enough practical storage for modern work. That's exactly what I was looking for.
