Perfect little everyday bag

Compact without being useless. My phone, wallet, keys, sunglasses and earbuds all fit comfortably.

My most-used bag for weekends

I've had the Finnegan for well over a year now and probably use it three or four times a week. It's just large enough for the things I actually need without tempting me to carry a load of unnecessary stuff. The front zipper pocket is where I keep my keys and earbuds, while my phone, wallet and sunglasses go in the main compartment. The Cognac leather has darkened slightly and picked up plenty of little marks, which has given it much more character.

Strap was stiff at first

The strap took a couple of weeks to soften and sit naturally across my chest. Much more comfortable now and the leather itself is excellent.

Great for walking

Sits close to the body and doesn't bounce around much. I've been using it on longer walks instead of filling my pockets.

Excellent travel sling

I bought this before a trip through Spain because I wanted something smaller than my usual messenger bag. It ended up being perfect for keeping my passport, wallet, phone, power bank and a few small essentials together. The slim vertical shape was particularly useful on trains and in crowded streets. Almost two years later, I've taken it on several more trips and everything is still working properly. The zippers remain smooth and the leather has developed a really attractive worn-in finish.

Smaller than my previous sling

Definitely designed around the essentials. My large glasses case takes up quite a bit of room, but for phone, wallet and keys the size is excellent.

Front pocket is useful

I keep my keys and train card in the front zip pocket so I don't have to search through the main section.

Has aged much better than expected

The leather was fairly uniform when the bag first arrived, but after fourteen months it looks completely different. There are lighter scratches across the front, darker areas around the edges and natural creasing where the bag bends against my body. I condition it every few months but otherwise don't baby it. Despite regular use, the stitching is still tight and both zippers continue to work perfectly.

Comfortable across the chest

Once adjusted properly, it stays exactly where I want it. I barely notice I'm carrying it.

Could use another small pocket

I like the main compartment and front zipper pocket, although one small internal divider would make organization even better. Still a very useful bag.

Perfect alternative to stuffed pockets

This has basically replaced putting my phone, wallet, keys and earbuds into four different pockets whenever I leave the house. The 14 cm width is narrow enough that the bag doesn't feel cumbersome, while the 7 cm depth gives it more usable room than I expected. I've been carrying it regularly for over a year and the leather has softened considerably. The strap attachment points still feel completely secure.

Chocolate looks excellent

Went with the darker Chocolate finish and it works with practically everything. The natural leather texture still shows through nicely.

Took a while to break in

The leather felt quite firm during the first month. After regular use it has softened nicely and now sits much more naturally against my body.

Ideal for airports and sightseeing

I've used the Finnegan on several international trips now. My passport goes in the front pocket while my phone, wallet, charging cable and small power bank stay in the main section. Having everything close against my chest makes getting through airports much easier than constantly reaching into a backpack. After a year and a half of travel, the bag has plenty of cosmetic marks but no functional problems at all.

Surprisingly roomy

The 7 cm depth gives it more capacity than the narrow front view suggests. Still looks compact when worn.

Still holding up brilliantly

Mine gets used constantly and I'm not particularly careful with it. It's been put on floors, packed into suitcases and carried through plenty of rain and crowded commutes. The leather now has a much richer, more uneven appearance than when it was new, which I personally prefer. More importantly, there are no loose seams or damaged strap connections after nearly two years. For such a compact bag, it has proven remarkably tough.

Better for essentials than extras

It's easy to overfill if you try to treat it like a small backpack. Keeping it to phone, wallet, keys and a few extras makes it much more comfortable.

The interior feels properly finished and keeps smaller items from rubbing directly against the leather.

The right size for city days

I wanted something that could stay on me all day without the weight and bulk of a backpack. This has been exactly right. The vertical shape is particularly good when walking through busy areas because it doesn't stick out from my side. I can fit my phone, wallet, sunglasses, keys and a compact power bank comfortably. Fifteen months later the Cognac leather is noticeably darker and softer and looks better than when it arrived.

Easy to wear

I switch between wearing it across my chest and over one shoulder. The adjustable strap gives enough range for both.

A little thick when fully packed

The 7 cm depth is useful, but if I fill every bit of available space the bag becomes noticeably bulkier against my chest. I prefer carrying it about three-quarters full.

One year of almost daily use

I bought this as an everyday sling and it has probably been used more than any other bag I own. The front pocket is ideal for things I need quickly and the main compartment has enough room for the rest of my essentials. It has been especially useful during summer when I don't have jacket pockets. After a full year the leather is softer, the zippers are still smooth and nothing has started coming apart.

Gets better the more I use it

The first few weeks it looked almost too clean and new for my taste. Seventeen months later it has developed exactly the sort of character I hoped for. The Cognac finish has darkened in places, the front has picked up fine scratches and the leather feels noticeably softer. I use it mainly on weekends and when traveling. The stitching, zipper pulls and strap hardware have all remained in very good condition.

Would like a small inner divider

The front pocket helps, but the main section is fairly open. A little internal sleeve would make separating my phone from other items easier. Otherwise the size is excellent.

Great for cycling around town

Stays close to my body and doesn't swing around like my old shoulder bag. Enough room for the basics without adding unnecessary weight.

Been everywhere with me

This little bag has been on more trips than some of my luggage. I use it for airports, sightseeing, concerts and ordinary weekends at home. It holds exactly the things I don't want buried inside a larger bag. After almost two years, the leather has plenty of visible wear but that's part of its appeal. The main zipper still runs smoothly, the front pocket works perfectly and I've had no trouble with the adjustable strap.

Leather scratches fairly easily

Mine picked up a few marks quite quickly. They blend into the finish as the leather ages, so I don't mind them now, but anyone wanting pristine leather should expect some natural wear.
