I've been carrying this to work four or five days a week for well over a year. I originally chose it because I didn't want another oversized briefcase, and the slim profile has been perfect for my routine. I normally carry my computer, a notebook, a few documents and smaller essentials. The leather has developed some marks and variation around the handles and corners, but that's made it look better rather than worn out. The zipper and strap hardware have also held up very well.

Great for documents

The structured shape keeps my folders and papers from getting folded up during the commute. Much better than throwing everything into a backpack.

Slim means slim

The 6 cm depth is excellent if you want something compact, but you do have to be realistic about what you're going to carry. For my daily essentials it's just right. I wouldn't choose it if I regularly needed to pack bulky accessories.

Exactly what I wanted for meetings

Most leather briefcases I looked at were either too traditional or much larger than I needed. This one has a simpler shape and doesn't feel like I'm carrying luggage into a meeting. I've had it for about a year now and the leather has softened slightly while the overall profile has stayed neat and structured.

Shoulder strap is useful

I carry it by the handles most of the time, but the shoulder strap is great when I'm walking to the train and need both hands free.

The leather has aged beautifully

Mine is approaching two years old and looks considerably more interesting now than when it arrived. Regular commuting has added small scratches and variations across the leather, particularly around the corners and handles. I condition it occasionally but otherwise haven't done anything special. The main zipper still runs smoothly and none of the stitching around the handles or strap attachments has given me trouble. It has become one of those bags I don't really think about anymore because it simply works every day.

Good everyday proportions

At 36 cm wide it gives me useful space for work without looking oversized. The shallow depth is probably my favorite part.

Much easier on the train

I used to commute with a fairly bulky messenger bag. This sits much closer to my side and is noticeably easier to manage when the train is crowded.

Not for overpackers

You won't be putting a water bottle, lunch and a pile of accessories in here along with your work setup. That's actually why I like it now, although it took me a week or two to stop trying to carry unnecessary things. It works best as a genuinely slim office briefcase.

Has completely replaced my old work bag

I originally planned to use this only when I had meetings because my previous bag had more storage. In practice, I realized I wasn't using most of that extra space anyway. The Finsley now comes with me almost every day. My documents, computer and essential accessories fit without a problem, and I much prefer carrying something this slim. After fifteen months the leather has developed a nice lived-in finish.

Great for business travel

I've taken this on quite a few work trips and it pairs well with a small suitcase. Because it's only 6 cm deep, it doesn't become another bulky piece of luggage to manage through the airport. I keep my work documents and everyday electronics in it so they're easy to reach. Once I arrive, I can take the same bag straight into the office or a meeting without needing to repack anything.

Full-grain leather was worth it

The main reason I chose this over a cheaper work bag was the leather. After a year I can see why. Instead of peeling or looking tired, the surface has simply become less uniform and more interesting. There are small marks where it rubs against things during my commute, but they blend naturally into the grain. The bag still feels strong and holds its shape well.

Took a little breaking in

The leather felt firmer than expected when it arrived. After a few months of daily use it has softened nicely and the handles feel more natural in hand. I actually prefer how it carries now.

Nearly two years and no issues

This has been through far more use than I originally expected. I carry it into the office most weekdays and it has also come with me on numerous business trips. It gets placed under seats, on train floors and beside my desk without much thought. The leather has plenty of signs of use now, which suits it, but the important parts have remained dependable. The handles are secure, the zipper still feels good and the shoulder strap hardware hasn't loosened.

Finally stopped carrying too much

The slim shape made me simplify what I take to work. Turns out I didn't need half the stuff that was sitting in my old bag anyway.

Excellent for a lighter commute

I work hybrid now and don't need to transport a huge amount every day. This is ideal for that kind of setup. I carry the device I need, a notebook, documents and a few small essentials. The bag stays slim and light enough that I don't feel like I'm hauling a full office around. The shoulder strap is also handy on days when I walk farther from the station.

Works with formal or casual clothes

I've carried it with a suit and with jeans and a jacket. The simple design doesn't feel too formal either way.

A proper everyday leather bag

What I like most is that this doesn't feel like a bag that needs to be kept for special occasions. I've used mine hard for more than a year and a half. It has scratches, creases and darker areas around the handles now, but none of that makes it look neglected. It simply looks broken in. The slim construction has also held its shape surprisingly well despite being carried almost every day.

Best for essentials

I wouldn't recommend this if your normal workday involves carrying several bulky chargers, a large bottle and lots of extras. For documents and the basic things you need at the office, though, the slim layout is excellent.

The handles are easy to grip and the lighter profile means I usually don't bother with the shoulder strap on shorter walks.

My preferred bag for work trips

For overnight business travel I normally have a small suitcase with me, so I don't want a large second bag hanging from my shoulder. The Finsley works very well because it carries the things I want accessible without adding much bulk. Documents stay flat, the zip closure keeps everything secure and the shoulder strap leaves my hands free for luggage. Seventeen months of travel have also given the leather a very nice patina.
