Has handled daily commuting very well

I've been using the Sullivan almost every weekday for around a year and a half. It carries my laptop, charger, notebook and documents without becoming bulky, and the structured shape means everything stays relatively neat inside. The chocolate leather has developed some lighter marks around the edges and darker areas near the handles, which I really like. The zippers are still smooth and the shoulder strap hardware hasn't loosened despite getting a lot of use.

Front pocket is genuinely useful

I keep my keys and a couple of things I need quickly in the front pocket. Saves me opening the entire briefcase every time.

Took some breaking in

The leather felt quite firm when it first arrived, especially around the opening and handles. After several months it has softened noticeably while the body still keeps its shape. I much prefer how it feels now.

Made my commute much more organized

My old messenger bag had everything sitting in one big compartment. With this I can keep my laptop separate and organize the smaller things I carry instead of digging around for them. The front pocket is particularly handy for items I need during the commute. Almost a year in, the bag still holds its shape very nicely.

Better now than when it was new

Mine is approaching two years old and has developed exactly the sort of character I wanted from a leather briefcase. There are small scratches across the surface, some darker areas from handling and subtle creasing where the leather naturally moves. None of it makes the bag look worn out. It just looks properly used. Structurally it has been excellent as well. The handles remain secure, the zipper still runs smoothly and the adjustable strap has held up to regular commuting.

The adjustable strap is useful on longer walks. I normally carry it by hand around the office and switch to the strap for commuting.

Nine centimeters gives me enough space for work essentials without turning the briefcase into something that feels like an overnight bag.

Best when you don't overpack

It will carry quite a bit, but I think the Sullivan works best with a laptop, documents, charger and normal daily items rather than being filled to the absolute limit. The structured profile looks much better that way and it's considerably more comfortable to carry.

Great for meetings and normal office days

I wanted one bag that could handle my regular commute but still look appropriate when I have client meetings. This has done both very well. There's enough room for my laptop, documents and accessories without the bag looking oversized. I normally use the shoulder strap getting to work and then carry it by the handles once I'm in the office. After fourteen months the leather has softened and looks better than it did when new.

The leather develops a great patina

I chose chocolate because I wanted something that would look better once it had been used for a while. Nineteen months later, that has definitely happened. The areas I touch most often have darkened slightly, the corners show subtle wear and there are small marks across the front that blend naturally into the finish. I condition it every few months but otherwise don't baby it. The bag still feels solid and the structured body has maintained its shape.

Forty centimeters wide is plenty for my work setup, while the 9 cm depth keeps the bag manageable on public transport.

The front pocket sold me on it

It sounds like a small detail, but having a separate front pocket has made this much more convenient than my previous briefcase. I use it for things I want quickly without opening the main compartment. Inside, my laptop and paperwork have enough dedicated space to stay organized. I've been carrying it for more than a year and the overall layout still works very well for me.

A little weight to it

It's definitely heavier than the nylon laptop case I replaced, which is to be expected with a structured leather bag. The shoulder strap helps and I prefer the more substantial feel overall.

Two years and still going strong

I've had the Sullivan for around two years and it has been used far more heavily than I expected when I ordered it. It has accompanied me to work almost every weekday and has also been through airports, train stations and plenty of business trips. The leather now shows a lot of natural variation, but the actual construction has remained excellent. The handles are still secure, the metal hardware feels solid and I've never had an issue with the main zipper. It's become one of those purchases I rarely think about because it simply keeps doing its job.

Very useful for business travel

I've taken this on several short work trips alongside a carry-on suitcase. The laptop compartment keeps my computer secure while the rest of the interior handles documents, chargers and headphones. I particularly like having the front pocket for things I need while traveling. Once I arrive, the bag looks professional enough to take straight into a meeting.

Built for everyday use

This isn't a briefcase I keep pristine or save for special occasions. It gets used constantly and has spent plenty of time on train floors, under desks and in overhead compartments. After eighteen months there are scratches and creases across the leather, but they suit the bag rather than making it look damaged. More importantly, the handles, stitching and hardware are all still secure. It feels like something designed to be used rather than displayed.

Good capacity without being huge

I can fit everything I normally need for work, but it doesn't have the extra bulk of some larger briefcases. If you carry a lot of clothing or bulky items, you'll want something bigger. For normal office essentials it's a very good size.

A major upgrade from my backpack

I carried a backpack to work for years because I didn't want to give up the convenience. Eventually I needed something more appropriate for client-facing days and chose the Sullivan. The adjustable shoulder strap means I can still carry it hands-free during the commute, while the handles make it look much more polished once I'm at the office. My 15-inch laptop fits properly and there's enough organization for everything else. Sixteen months later I'm still very happy with the switch.

Cognac has aged beautifully

The cognac version was fairly bright and even in color when I first received it. Twenty months of regular use have completely changed that in a good way. The handles are darker, the edges have subtle wear and the front has developed plenty of tonal variation. It looks much richer now. I occasionally use leather conditioner but otherwise haven't done anything special. The bag itself remains structured and all of the hardware is still functioning properly.

Laptop, charger, notebook, documents and my smaller essentials all fit without making the briefcase look overstuffed.
